LIVE GALA EVENT AT THE HOTEL PASO DEL NORTE IN DOWNTOWN EL PASO

“Powered by PechaKucha”

AIA El Paso Chapter's Annual Design Awards recognizes outstanding architectural and urban design by architects, emerging professionals, and students practicing in El Paso, to promote public interest in architectural design excellence.

Winning entries will demonstrate high-quality design solutions that are appropriate and responsive to the needs of the end users, the urban context, and the environment. The jury will look at the projects to understand what criteria were most important to the designers: form, function, sustainability, etcetera.

Our Jury Chair and guest speaker this year is Randall Daniel. As a Senior Design Principal based in SmithGroup’s Dallas office, Randall leads teams in the design and delivery of responsive and engaging solutions.  His two decades of project experience includes award-winning work across multiple building typologies, including cultural, higher education, science & technology, and civic.  His work has been recognized by a wide array of awards programs, including the AIA, Chicago Athenaeum, USGBC, and the Texas Society of Architects.  Randall is a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington where he received both his undergraduate and graduate degrees and was honored with the King Student Medal for Excellence in Architectural + Environmental Research.  He regularly returns to his alma mater to serve as a design juror and guest lecturer.

This year’s design award winners will be announced and recognized at the Annual AIA El Paso Architecture Gala (Powered by PechaKucha) on January 31st 2025 in Downtown El Paso at the Hotel Paso del Norte. Award recipients will present their projects in the PechaKucha 20x20 format at the live event.

Winning entries and presentations from the design awards will be shared via PechaKucha.com and the AIA El Paso chapter's website  www.aiaelpaso.org
